This summer, a group of people assembled in the dining room of Gutenberg College in Eugene, Oregon. They assembled to talk about a paper presented by Jack Crabtree entitled, “How To Follow Jesus When You Cannot Kill the Beast.” Jack’s paper set forth a bold thesis: Leftism is a satanic beast that has taken over the U.S. and the U.S. is therefore coming to an end. This series is a response to Jack’s end-of-the-world narrative. But more than that, it will call into question the very foundation of this narrative — a foundation that permeates much of the Religious Right’s worldview.
